This photographic abstraction is designed to dismantle photographic realism by distilling a sense of motion and transformation into each image through layering a series of expressionist movements. The process of creating the image begins by taking several motion blurred photographs from a single vantage point, effectively rendering the subject unrecognizable. These images are then layered together in a state of semi-transparency, allowing each frame to be seen simultaneously which effectively rebuilds the subject into a transformed state. This method allows the artist an opportunity for expression within each layer, resulting in a perception of "Place" that is transformed by substituting the facts of static realism with the impression of form created through expressionist movement. The final image is both ambiguous and immersive, asking the viewer to build their own connection between reality and the perception of reality.
