Pullulare

Pullulare , Painting
Pullulare
With purely gestural and expressive work like this painting, the specificity that I am after is to cultivate a deep response in the viewer similar to what I experience when I think of the idea the painting contains. Ultimately, I desire to invite the viewer to gaze at the partnership and tension of colors, movement and space on the surface while thinking of the idea behind it. This can lead to amazing realizations and conversation about topics and between people that may not have happened otherwise, and I highly value that interaction. This specific painting is a continuation of sorts from the "Germination" as I considered the mysterious and explosive workings of the seed sprouting/coming forth - thus the name "Pullulare" is the Latin word for this part of the growth process.
