Je Rêve d'Haïti
Je Rêve d'Haïti is a stitched fabric construction done in three layers of cotton using quilting and applique techniques. Je Rêve d'Haïti was completed during the 2024 political campaign when Haitian immigrants were being maligned by Donald Trump and his campaign. It is intended to be something positive about Haiti and was inspired by a scene in the 1934 movie "Zou Zou" when Josephine Baker sings as a bird in a cage, longing to return to Haiti.
